What are layers and explanations in Photoshop?
Hello MNA friends,
Welcome back to MNA-69. And may we remain in the mercy of God Almighty "Amen". And on this occasion, we will discuss "What are layers and explanations in Photoshop?" Okay, go directly to the discussion topic.
A layer is like a canvas that serves as a place of objects that we will edit later. Layers are also very important because with layers we can know the position of the object with the name we created on the layer.
Layer allows you to edit an object without interrupting another object.
For example, if we are editing object 1 (Objects in Layer 1) then object 2 (Objects in layer 2) will not be affected.
Many things can be done on the layer. Like setting the layer composition, change the attributes and the order of layers. Then there are also additional effects such as fill layer, and also layer style that can give a cool impression on the object that we choose.
Well. Now let's look at the image about the layer properties below.
- Layer Blending Option
Used to manage the processes that occur on the pixels to the existing layer under its position.
- Lock Options
Used to lock the image layer or pixel.
- Layer Thumbnail 2
This is a small image view of your original image. If the layer is a text or text, then the image is a letter T. This layer also shows that this layer is a layer that is active or selected. The current layer will have a different color than the inactive layer. Each layer can have different names. By default, Photoshop will create a layer with consecutive numbers. The name of this layer can be replaced by doing 2 clicks on the layer name, then you just type in a name desired.
But when do click 2 times, must be right on the layer name, because if not, then we just go to Layer Style settings. If 2 clicks done on thumbnail text layer, then we will directly create a block on the text layer. You can also select the layer by right-clicking on the layer thumbnail and selecting Layer Transparency. Or by doing Ctrl + click on the layer thumbnail.
- Layer Thumbnail 1
This is the first thumbnail layer view that is inactive because it is not selected or is blue.
- Eye Ball / Visibility
Used to set about showing whether or not a layer you are working with Photoshop. How to use, by clicking on the icon.
- Link
Used to create in order to group many layers at once. How to use it by selecting the desired layer names (with Shift + Click),
- Layer Style
Used to create a layer that works like the Layer menu> Layer style.
- Add Layer Mask
Used to close/protect some / all layers of the image from the editing process.
- New Adjustment Layer
Used to create a layer that works as a color change. The difference is when using the Image> Adjustment menu can be read this tutorial article.
- Layer Group
Used to group multiple layers into a set of layers, to simplify the work process that uses a lot of layers.
- New Layer
Used to create an empty new layer, or to create duplicate layers. To create a duplicate layer, do it by dragging the layer name to this icon.
- Delete Layer
Used to remove the layer. Activate the layer you want to delete, then click this icon. In Photoshop CS2 version, can also be done just by activating layer then press the Delete button on the keyboard (this can not be done if you use Photoshop previous version).
- Opacity
Used to set the transparency level of the layer. The smaller the percentage value, the layer / your image will be more transparent.
- Fill Opacity
Used to set the transparency level of the layer. But not the same as Opacity, because this Fill does not set the part which is the Layer Style. So this Fill option will be useful if you also apply Layer Style.
- Layer Style option
The icon F image on this layer shows that on this layer there is a Layer Style effect, while the triangle image on the right is used to display whether or not the detailed information of Layer Style is used.
- Locked layer
The padlock icon image (meaning key) shows that this layer is in condition locked. Usually, images with the .jpg extension will have a background layer that is always locked. To unlock the background layer, do this by clicking 2 times on that layer, Then click OK on the dialog box that appears
Okay, maybe that's all I can share on this occasion and see you next time. Thank you for visiting. :D
